International Baccaluareate English- Junior Year
The International Baccalaureate Curriculum is a college level two-year program that requires students to study thirteen texts in four parts. Each part of the course culminates in a required IB assessment, as well as local assessments required by the instructor. The selection of the texts is governed by the International Baccalaureate Organization, which also requires that students study texts from different countries, different genres and different time periods.
The course requires students to closely read and analyze these texts in multiple formats. Whether it be interactive notebook responses, textual annotations, journal responses, discussion questions, altered books, found poetry, essays, commentaries, or class discussion; students are expected to invest the time and effort necessary to provide in-depth, mature responses to the texts studied.
In addition to the IB Assessments administered in junior year, students must prepare a final exam for the course in addition to taking the NYS Regents Examination.
